Defence Minister–designate Maj.-Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd.) on Wednesday urged Nigerians to unite in the fight against terrorism and insecurity, describing the country’s adversaries as “evil forces” with no regard for human life.
Speaking during his ministerial screening at the Senate, Musa stressed that defeating insecurity would require the collective effort of citizens, security agencies, and government at all levels.
“We need the support of everyone — every Nigerian — working together as a team, because it’s going to be a team effort,” he said. “The enemies we are dealing with are evil forces that don’t mean well for this country and have no respect for human lives. If we don’t work together, we give them the opportunity to continue the evil acts they have been committing.”
Musa also addressed ongoing security concerns, including the abduction of children in Maga, assuring lawmakers that he would pursue accountability and improved oversight if confirmed.
“We will find out what happened and who is involved, including the case of the children at Maga,” he said. “We will monitor all the activities of the Armed Forces and other security agencies.”
