Inter Milan’s sporting director, Piero Ausilio, has provided key updates on the club’s transfer activity, making it clear that the club is not looking to part ways with some of its key players while also confirming interest in a few targets.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Ausilio stated emphatically that forward Marcus Thuram is not on the market this summer.
“Marcus Thuram is not for sale this summer. Absolutely no chance,” he said, dispelling any speculation surrounding the French attacker’s future at the club.
Ausilio also addressed recent rumours linking goalkeeper Yann Sommer with a move to Turkish side Galatasaray. He dismissed the claims, saying there was nothing substantial between the clubs.
“Yann Sommer was not close to Galatasaray. Nothing concrete happened, he’s our goalkeeper and I expect him to stay,” he said.
On another front, the Inter director confirmed the club’s interest in Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman, currently with Atalanta. He noted that a bid had been made, but Inter would not be dragged into lengthy negotiations.
“We made a bid for Ademola Lookman, we like him. We have a good relationship with Atalanta but we won’t enter into long negotiations, we have our own project,” Ausilio revealed.
Addressing reports involving Turkish midfielder Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Ausilio acknowledged that Galatasaray had made contact over a potential deal, but talks broke down swiftly.
“We spoke to Galatasaray for Çalhanoğlu and we have immediately noticed that it was impossible to reach an agreement,” he explained. “They tried but that’s it. There’s no issue with Hakan at all on our side.”
However, one outgoing player has been confirmed. Ausilio disclosed that midfielder Kristian Asllani has been informed he should seek opportunities elsewhere.
“We have informed Kristian Asllani that he should now find a new club,” he said.
