Iran Rules Out Participation in Upcoming World Cup Amid Rising Tensions with U.S.

World Cup

Iran has announced that it will not participate in the upcoming FIFA World Cup, citing ongoing security concerns and deteriorating relations with the United States.

Iran’s Sports Minister, Ahmad Doyanmali, made the announcement in a strong statement, saying the current political and security climate makes participation impossible.

According to Doyanmali, the situation between Iran and the United States has escalated significantly in recent months, creating an environment that he described as unsafe and unacceptable for Iranian athletes.

“Given that this corrupt government has murdered our leader, there are no conditions under which we can participate in the World Cup,” he said.

The minister further stated that the country has endured significant turmoil over the past several months, claiming that multiple conflicts have been imposed on Iran, leading to the deaths of thousands of citizens.

“Two wars have been imposed on us in eight or nine months and several thousand of our citizens have been killed. Therefore, we have no chance of participating in this way,” he added.
