Former heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, has paid an emotional tribute to his friends who died in a tragic accident, describing the loss as deeply painful while acknowledging that their parents are enduring an even greater heartbreak.
In a heartfelt message shared publicly, Joshua reflected on the bond he shared with the deceased, noting that he never fully realised how extraordinary they were while they were alive.
“Thank you for all the love and care you have shown my brothers. I didn’t even realise how special they are. I’ll just be walking with them and cracking jokes with them, not even knowing God kept me in the presence of great men,” he wrote.
The British-Nigerian boxer admitted that the loss has been difficult for him personally but stressed that the pain experienced by the victims’ parents is far greater.
“100% it’s tough for me, but I know it’s even tougher for their parents,” Joshua said.
Expressing faith amid grief, the former world champion stated that he remains strong-minded and believes God understands the hearts of those lost.
“I have a strong mind, and I believe God knows their hearts. May God have mercy on my brothers,” he added, accompanied by prayer and heart emojis.
