
Music Czar, Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, has formally declared interest in the vacant throne of the Awujale of Ijebuland.
Wasiu made this is known in a letter of intent written to the Chairman of the Funsengbuwa Ruling House.
As contained in the letter dated 3rd of December, the fuji icon notified the ruling house of his intention to be considered for the vacant stool as he declared himself a bonafide son of the ruling house, tracing his ancestry to the Oba Jadiara lineage.
He held over the course of five decades committed himself to the promotion of Ijebu and Yoruba culture through his music.
K1 also highlighted his other accomplishments and title, including his installaton as Mayegun of Yorubaland and the national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON).
The letter read;
“I, Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Adewale Olasunkanmi Omogbolahan Anifowoshe, MON, hereby formally notify the Fusengbuwa Ruling House of my intention to be considered for the vacant stool of the Awujale of Ijebuland, subject strictly to the provisions of Ijebu customary law and the Ogun State Chieftaincy Laws.
“I was born on 3rd March, 1957, and I am a bonafide son of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Agunsebi Quarters, tracing my ancestry to the Oba Jadiara lineage, which qualifies me to present myself for consideration in accordance with established tradition.
“I have devoted over five decades to the promotion of Ijebu, Yoruba, and Nigerian culture through music and cultural enterprise.
“In the course of my service, I have received various traditional and national honours, including my installation as Mayegun of Yorubaland (2020).
“The national honour of Member of the Order of the Niger – MON (2022).
“I was conferred as Olori Omo-Oba and Otunba Afidipotemole of Akile ljebu (2023) by the late Awujale.”
Wasiu Ayinde’s declaration of interest in the throne is coming five months after the demise of Oba Sikiru Adetona.
