Kaduna Govt Slams El-Rufai Over ‘False Claims’ on Tinubu’s Commissioned Projects

The Kaduna State Government has issued a strong rebuttal to recent claims made by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, describing them as “bare-faced lies” and a deliberate distortion of facts concerning projects recently commissioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the state.

In a widely circulated television interview, El-Rufai claimed that all the projects inaugurated by the President during his visit were initiated by his administration. The Kaduna State Government, however, categorically denied this assertion, stating that several of the key projects were wholly conceived, executed, and completed by Governor Uba Sani’s administration.

In a press statement signed by Ibraheem Musa, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Uba Sani, the state government clarified that President Tinubu commissioned three major projects during his visit:

  1. Three Institutes of Vocational Training and Skills Development
  2. Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital
  3. 100 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Buses

According to the statement, the vocational institutes — Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa Institute (Rigachikun), Col. Dangiwa Umar Institute (Soba), and Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Institute (Samaru Kataf) — were fully initiated and completed by the Uba Sani administration. The institutions form the cornerstone of the state’s human capital development strategy and are expected to train over 36,000 youths annually.

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has endorsed the facilities as the best-equipped in Nigeria. NBTE Executive Secretary, Prof. Idris Bugaje, reportedly stated that no existing polytechnic or university of technology in the country matches the technical resources of these Kaduna institutes.

On the CNG buses, the statement noted that they are part of the Uba Sani administration’s response to the fuel subsidy removal, aimed at offering reliable and eco-friendly transportation. For the first six months, workers, retirees, and students will ride free, with subsidized rates for the general public.

Regarding the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital, the government acknowledged that the project was initially conceived under the Namadi Sambo administration but had remained largely incomplete for over a decade. Vice President Namadi Sambo, who was present at the commissioning, confirmed the neglect by previous administrations and praised Governor Sani for completing and equipping the hospital.

The statement disclosed that the hospital stood at just 53% completion when Governor Sani assumed office, and lacked all necessary medical equipment. Its transformation into a fully equipped 300-bed specialist hospital is now seen as a flagship achievement of the current administration.

“Governor Uba Sani gave it his all — failure was never an option,” the statement read. “President Tinubu himself commended the Governor’s visionary leadership and commitment to healthcare delivery.”

The government described El-Rufai’s remarks as “regrettable but not surprising,” stressing that facts remain sacred and cannot be rewritten. The statement emphasized that Governor Uba Sani has delivered results where others faltered and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to transparency, unity, and sustainable development.
