The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has issued an official response to allegations of misconduct leveled by a social media user, Mr. Chiemelie Kyrian Offor, regarding the conduct of unidentified officers in the Iponri area of Surulere on Wednesday, June 18.

In a statement released by the agency’s Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, LASTMA confirmed that it had launched an internal review immediately after being notified of the claims. The review process included debriefing officers deployed to the Iponri-Surulere corridor, examining duty rosters and operational records, and making direct attempts to contact Mr. Offor through his Twitter (X) account for more information.

“Despite our outreach, Mr. Offor has not provided any further details such as vehicle registration numbers, officer descriptions, or supporting evidence,” the statement said. “Additionally, physical checks revealed that no facility named ‘Faithview Hospital’—as referenced in the viral post—exists within the Surulere axis.”

Based on the findings, LASTMA concluded that there was no operational or factual basis to support the allegations made in the social media post.

The agency reiterated its commitment to transparency and ethical operations, highlighting the launch of its toll-free hotline (080000527862) to receive real-time feedback and complaints from the public.

“LASTMA remains open to investigating any credible claims of misconduct, but such investigations require verifiable information. We urge Mr. Offor or any potential witnesses to come forward with actionable details,” the statement added.

LASTMA reassured the public of its dedication to professional, citizen-focused traffic management and reaffirmed its stance against any form of unprofessional conduct among its officers.
