Leicester City have awarded a first professional contract to promising Portuguese midfielder Sidnei Tavares.
City have tied down the 17-year-old to a two-and-a-half year deal after his impressive showings for the Under-18s this term.
Tavares, who has been in the club’s academy since the age of nine, has made 18 appearances for the Under-18s in all competitions, scoring four goals and assisting four more.

Those displays have seen him promoted to the Under-23s in recent weeks, Tavares coming on as a substitute in a Premier League 2 defeat to Manchester City and the penalty shoot-out loss to Bayern Munich in the Premier League International Cup.
He is also making waves at international level, turning out for Portugal Under-18s.
Earlier this year, Porto and Lazio were linked with interest in Tavares.
