Nigerian social commentator and activist, Lordzeus, has condemned the federal government over the worsening state of the Asaba–Benin Expressway in Delta State, describing it as a national embarrassment and a death trap for commuters.
In a passionate post shared on social media, Lordzeus expressed frustration over the poor condition of the major federal highway, lamenting that countless Nigerians risk their lives daily while traveling on the route.
I don’t know why Nigeria will always find a way to make its citizens suffer at any given opportunity,” he wrote.
“This road you’re seeing now is a federal road the Asaba–Benin Expressway, Delta State. People risk their lives every single day just to pass here. Trucks get stuck, goods get damaged, and innocent lives are lost because of how terrible this road has become.”
He further appealed to the Federal Government and the Minister of Works, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, to intervene urgently and rehabilitate the road, warning that continued neglect could lead to more tragedies.
We can’t keep quiet anymore! Nigeria deserves better roads. We deserve to travel without fear of sleeping on the road,” he added.
The Asaba–Benin Expressway, a critical link between the South-South and South-East regions, has long been notorious for its dilapidated condition, leading to gridlocks, accidents, and economic losses.
