Making Nigeria Work Again Should Be The Vision Of PDP

By Dr Kenneth Anozie

…..what PDP needs to do to rescue Nigeria from this rot, and backwardness

The current political diplomacy by the Governors elected under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP gives Nigerians hope that a rescue plan for Nigerians and Nigeria is possible.

Currently, Nigeria is being pounded from all sides; Insecurities, daily massacres, economic downturn, fear, religious persecutions, and diplomatic pounding. All these were self inflicted because the Miyette Allah/APC regime completely came up with a very negative agenda and program that has no bearing to real development of the potentials of Nigeria. Under this regime, the secessionist agitations have reached unprecedented heights. And the problems we have are that the the minders of Aso Rock today have no interest in handling the affairs of Nigeria. It’s very decadent, friends.

So the only solution for Nigeria is that PDP comes back to power. And PDP must need to carry the majority of Nigerians along to ensure that the party wins the Presidency in 2023. One of the major ways this will be done is for PDP Governors to keep working for the people. It’s in this vein that I hail the unprecedented accomplishments of most PDP Governors in States they now control. The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike is leading this charge in terms of accomplishments. He is working, working and working. Evidence abound of his infrastructural developments. Others like Bayelsa, Delta, Oyo, Sokoto, Taraba, Adamawa, Bauchi, Enugu, and all others in between are doing good.

However, now that 2023 is fastly approaching, the pace must be increased so that Nigerians should be told of testimonials of what PDP States are doing. As well as the lift the PDP governments of Obasanjo, Yar’dua, Jonathan gave Nigeria when it mattered most. The PDP regime drove Nigeria to #1 in economy in Africa, built solid institutions, schools, roads, railways, bridges, and most gave Nigerians solid security compared to what Nigerians currently face. Daily thousands are kidnapped, in schools, highways, homes and religious places. Other thousands are massacred. A whole Bus with 48 passengers was burnt in Sokoto, and no reaction from this Miyette Allah/APC regime. Today, in a country, where there is no official war, more that 6 million Nigerians are living in IDP camps, while 1 million have escaped to other countries. This is an error. Today, fuel is #180/liter from 87/liter when President Jonathan left, $1-#580, from $1-#160 when Jonathan left, inflation is at 38%, from 5% when Jonathan left. All these are politically awkward, and economic meltdown.

Another very important act PDP must take is not to fall into the trap of zoning being set by enemies of the party. We must un-zone to zone! Most of us that backed a likeable winnable candidate for Anambra rather than zoning have been proven right. We lost. Edo State is a state we all saw how PDP took over. It was accomplishments over sentiments. Sentiments don’t win elections. So sentiments must be completely disabused in the 2023 election. We must get people who can win, not those who can answer former candidates!

Real accomplishments, ability, capacity, vision, personality and ability must all be put into consideration for the PDP to get a winnable candidate that can galvanize Nigerians into a more progressive country. So PDP need to up their game. It must not be about power grabbing, but getting down building a real bridge to help our people who are now dejected and hopeless. That will be the mantra.

So getting Nigeria working again will be the prime agenda of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP as the next round gets into view.
