The Nigerian military has handed over the rescued students of Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, to Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris. The students were abducted by bandits last week but were successfully rescued in a coordinated military operation.
The handover ceremony took place in the early hours of Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi and was led by the Theatre Commander, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Warrah Idris, acting on the directive of the Minister of State for Defence, Muhammad Bello Matawalle.
All the students were handed over hale and hearty to the government. No deaths or injuries recorded. After undergoing medical examination, the girls are scheduled to be finally reunited with their parents later in the day.
