Troops of the Operation Hadin Kai, in conjunction with the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), have returned to base in high spirits following a successful counter-terrorism operation near the Nigeria–Cameroon border.
According to a statement released by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, the operation was conducted in coordination with Hybrid Forces and other security agencies.
The joint forces carried out a well-planned clearance mission along the Rann–Gamboru Ngala axis in the southern Lake Chad region, engaging Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in a fierce exchange of gunfire.
Acting on actionable intelligence, the combined troops stormed a known terrorist hideout, triggering an intense firefight.
Ten terrorists were neutralized during the operation, with no casualties reported among the security forces.
The DMO said a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, including anti-aircraft rounds, was recovered from the location.
He said the seized weapons are currently undergoing technical analysis.
The mission forms part of ongoing efforts to secure the southern Lake Chad basin and disrupt the cross-border movements of terrorist elements.
The Armed Forces of Nigeria, working alongside the MNJTF and other regional partners, remain committed to intensifying operations across northern Borno and the broader Lake Chad area to eliminate all remaining threats and restore lasting peace to the region.
