Nigeria’s Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Dr Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has revealed that she currently does not have an office space of her own to work from.
Speaking on Thursday, Onyejeocha lamented the accommodation challenge within the ministry, disclosing that even her temporary workspace has been taken over by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation.
“This is Ministry of Labour and Employment, and right now, even the Minister of State doesn’t have an office. The place I am staying currently, the Permanent Secretary of Aviation has been allocated that place. Where do I go to?” she asked.
She further explained that although plans were made for her to move to the 7th floor of the ministry building, the offices there are far from completion and may not be ready for use in the coming months.
Onyejeocha therefore stressed the urgent need to complete the ongoing renovation of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) building, which she described as the only hope for housing officials currently without offices.
“I believe we must put all our energy in finishing the NDE building with the speed of light, so that those who do not have an office will just come in here and be able to do their work,” she said.
