A Nigerian mother has taken to social media to express frustration over the rising cost of school fees, revealing that she’s been struggling to find a more affordable option for her children.
In the now-viral video, she said she’s been going from school to school around Sangotedo, Lagos, trying to find one that fits her budget, but the figures she’s getting are “choking.”
“Tuition alone is ₦800k. Bus is ₦365k. Textbooks, ₦300k. They’re calling ₦1.2 million, ₦1.3 million per child — and I have two kids,” she said.
She added that she had been warned earlier about the financial burden of raising children but didn’t expect it to be this overwhelming.
“I’m tired. I’ve checked Google. I’ve asked friends. Most of the schools I’m seeing keep increasing prices every term. Even textbooks are now over ₦300k for a school year,” she continued.
According to her, the economic situation is affecting parents as much as it is schools, yet the cost of education keeps going up with no relief in sight.

Great job simplifying something so complex.
