Senator Natasha H. Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, has reignited calls for justice in the tragic case of late Ochanya Ogbanje, the young girl whose death seven years ago sparked nationwide outrage over child abuse and sexual violence.
In a heartfelt post on social media, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed her devastation upon learning that the perpetrators accused in the case had been discharged and acquitted, contrary to what she previously believed.
Seven years ago, the heart-wrenching story of little Ochanya devastated me. I thought the perpetrators were in jail. Alas, they were discharged and acquitted,” she wrote.
The senator urged the family of late Ochanya Ogbanje to submit a formal petition to her office at the National Assembly for legislative intervention.
“The family of late Ochanya Ogbanje should write a petition to me: Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, Room 2:05, Senate Wing, National Assembly Complex, Abuja. For our children, I stand for justice for Ochanya,” she added.
She also thanked @miss_natural1 for her advocacy videos that drew her attention to the case once again, vowing to use her platform in the Senate to ensure justice is served.
