New tank farms won’t be sited in Satellite Town – LASG

The Lagos State Government has allayed the fears of residents of the Satellite Town, saying new tank farms will not be sited in the area.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of  Environment, Lagos State, Mr Biodun Bamgboye, said this when he received residents of the area, who staged a  protest against the alleged plan to locate another tank farm in the area.

The placard-carrying residents, who marched to the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and the state House of Assembly, expressed displeasure about deaths caused by activities related to tank farms and trucks in the area.

The permanent secretary said the Federal Government had also promised to reject location of additional tank farms in the area.

“But like I told you, we reached a decision the last time we met that there would be no additional tank farms in Satellite Town.

“Recently,  we stopped a construction that was put in place for gas farm in the area. Whatever complaint you have, we will deliver it to them,” he added

The Chairman, Satellite Town Forum, Mr Governor Imitini, said Satellite Town was designed as a residential area in all respects.
