Niger Delta Activists Berates Group’s Insensitivity Over NDDC Gesture

Niger Delta

A pro-active group of activists and intellectuals under the auspices of the Niger Delta Intelligent Assessment Group (NDIAG), have condemned leaders of the Youth Leaders of Ethnic in the Niger Delta over its insensitivity towards the lives of the region’s people and senseless criticism of the Niger Delta Development Commission for making donation towards curbing the spread and harm of the Corona Virus in the region.

Speaking to journalists in Port Harcourt today, the secretary-general of NDIAG, Dr. Barika D. Saro-Laka, argued that human security, progress and safety are the most important aspect of development in any society.

He explained that it was very vital to protect, preserve and aid the survival and growth of human beings since they were the pillars that can define and guarantee the growth and advancement of any given society.

In this sense, he insisted that the NDDC under the credible leadership of Prof. Kemebradikumo Pondei, acted well by making a donation to fight this dangerous pandemic to some state governors in order to safe and provide a leeway for the speedy and sustainable development of the region.
Dr. Saro-Laka advised the acting managing director of NDDC to continue to perform his functions well as he is doing, saying it is not his duty to query governors in Nigeria as Mr. Imoh Okoko and his group are demanding.

NDIAG also noted that the nine states of the region would have been better off if the commission has had the opportunity to be led over the years by this five-member dynamic and sensitive set of leadership.
He stressed that the action of the current leadership was apt and timely because there cannot be development for dead people and called on well-meaning organisations and individuals at home and abroad to lend full support to the Pondei-led interventionist agency to assist it in delivering more people-oriented services to its target groups.
