The Senator, representing Niger East Senatorial District, Sen. Sani Musa, has distributed 1,800 fertilizers worth millions of Naira to farmers in his constituency.
Akelicious reports in Minna on Monday that the beneficiaries were from Shiroro, Munya, Paikoro, Rafi, Suleja, Gurara, Chanchaga, Bosso and Tafa Local government areas of the state.
Musa, who was represented by Alhaji Baba Bissala, Senatorial Advisory Committee to the Senator, said the gesture was to boost agricultural activities, not just in these local government areas, but in the state as a whole.
Musa explained that Niger East alone has the capacity to feed the country if its potentials were properly harnessed as it was blessed with vast arable and fertile land.
He added that if given necessary support, farmers in Niger East can contribute immensely to boosting the economic capacity of the country.
The Senator, however, lamented the negative impact of insecurity on agricultural activities in the zone.
“The Federal government must find a lasting solution to the banditry problem bedeviling Niger East, so as to maximize the agricultural potential of the area.
“There is no doubt that insecurity is a major clog in the wheel of farmers in the area.
“The fertilizers are not part of my constituency project, but my personal effort at improving on the lives of my people,” he said.
Some of the beneficiaries, commended the gesture of the senator and his continuous effort towards adding value to his constituents.
