Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued 12 kidnapped victims during a security operation in Ette Community, Igbo-Eze North LGA of Enugu State.
According to the Army, the operation was carried out by troops of the 82 Division Nigerian Army under Operation Eastern Sanity after a distress call reported that several residents had been abducted and taken to a nearby location.
Security operatives quickly mobilised alongside police officers, Forest Guards, and members of the Neighbourhood Watch to track the kidnappers.
Faced with the rapid response from security forces, the kidnappers reportedly abandoned their captives and fled the scene. All 12 victims were rescued unharmed, while two suspects were arrested during the operation.
The suspects are currently being interrogated as security agencies continue efforts to track down other members of the gang.
Authorities say patrols and surveillance have now been intensified in the area to ensure continued safety and reassure residents.
