A Nigerian lady has taken to social media to share her younger sister’s experience with a landlord in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, after a disagreement over a mirror installed inside the apartment.

According to the lady, her younger sister had recently moved into a new apartment in the city. However, shortly after settling in, she removed a mirror that the landlord had mounted inside what she described as her personal space within the apartment.

The situation reportedly escalated when the landlord insisted that the mirror must remain exactly where it was installed. He allegedly warned that if the mirror was not returned to its original position, he would refund the tenant’s rent and terminate the arrangement.

The lady said her sister found the demand unusual, questioning why a landlord would insist on keeping a mirror in a tenant’s private living area.

She revealed that her sister has now decided to move out and collect her money back on Monday. According to her, the tenant also plans to demand a full refund of every amount she has already spent on the apartment since moving in.

“I honestly don’t understand why a landlord would insist on keeping a mirror in a tenant’s space,” the lady wrote while narrating the incident online.

The story has since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with many Nigerians debating whether a landlord has the right to dictate fixtures within a tenant’s rented space or if the tenant should have the freedom to rearrange or remove items after moving in.
