The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, COSEYL, the umbrella body of all the youth organizations in the South East geopolitical zone is very enraged over the unlawful, barbaric, wicked and extrajudicial killing of a businessman Mr. Noel Chigbu aged 39 years by the military at Amakohia junction, Owerri, Imo state for allegedly ” violating their checkpoint rule” on Friday 30th April, 2021 by 10pm and the unlawful killing of an Imo state first year student by name Divine Nwaneri at a military checkpoint close to Imo state Governor’s office.
These killings and more that has happened in recent times is a tangible proof that the military are on a secret mission to exterminate Igbo Youth in the South East. The killing of armless agitators and pampering of Boko Haram terrorists is a clear testament that Ndigbo have been marked for extinction by the Nigerian military.
How can the soldiers paid with tax payers money which those they have killed are part of, kill an armless youth just for one flimsy excuse ” violating checkpoint rules”. This is absolute madness and it must stop forthwith.
The truth is Noel Chigbu was killed by the soldiers for refusing to give them “Roja” . The soldiers now make it mandatory that anyone that passes on the road must give “Roja” to the soldiers or their employed civilians who disguise as plantains chips sellers or risk been killed because they are on a mandate to exterminate Igbo youths.
The impunity with which soldiers and other security agencies deals with Igbo youths calls for serious concern. This is total harassment of Ndigbo and we reject it in its entirety.
Igbo youths are been arrested by the army who brand them unknown gunmen and kill them. How do they know that they are unknown gunmen?
The South East governors, Senators Reps members and other Political office holders from the zone must speak up in defence of their people who are being unlawfully killed on daily basis without any justifiable reasons. If our governors and other Political office holders are keeping silence and all Igbo youths are killed, who will vote for them in the next elections?.
If our youths are killed, is it corpses that will vote for our political office holders in the next elections. This is not a political matter, the Igbo race is under threat and we must all rise up to say no to the planned extermination of the Igbo race.
If our leaders are tired of doing their duties, the should resign and leave office. Political office are meant for those who have the interest of the people at heart. Political office is not meant for stooges or deaf and dumb. We will not tolerate any form of docility on the part of our leaders. They must defend their own against any form of injustice and oppression.
We therefore demand that the military must identify and handover those soldiers involved in the unlawful killings of Mr. Noel Chigbu, Divine Nwaneri and others to the police for immediate prosecution.
