Nigerians Should Forget the Pain, Tinubu Is Building the Future – Godwin Offor

Godwin Offor

Godwin Offor, publisher of Akelicious, has called on Nigerians to remain hopeful and supportive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asserting that the current administration is taking real action to fix the country—unlike what he described as the “missed opportunities” under former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Offor praised Tinubu’s courage in confronting Nigeria’s deep-rooted economic problems head-on, rather than taking the politically safe route. He pointed to bold reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidies, the unification of exchange rates, and the prioritization of transparency in public finance as evidence that President Tinubu is serious about rebuilding the Nigerian economy.

“President Tinubu is doing the heavy lifting that Buhari avoided for eight years. These reforms may be painful now, but they are necessary if we are to have a stable and prosperous future,” Offor said.

He added that while many Nigerians are currently experiencing hardship due to rising costs and inflation, these challenges should be seen as temporary sacrifices for long-term gain. “We understand the pain, but this is a time to endure and trust in the process. The road to recovery is never easy, but at least we now have a leader who is not afraid to make tough decisions,” he stated.

Offor urged citizens not to lose hope or give in to pessimism, emphasizing that tangible progress is already being seen, such as the improved availability of foreign exchange, a more stable naira, and stronger investor confidence. He also referenced the recent successful redemption of Nigeria’s first N100 billion Sovereign Sukuk bond as proof that the government is managing public debt more responsibly than in the past.

“This government has repaid what it owed to investors on time and is now launching a bigger infrastructure bond. These are the kinds of actions that show Nigeria is on the right track,” Offor noted.

He concluded by calling on the media, civil society, and ordinary Nigerians to be patient, stay informed, and contribute positively to the nation’s development. “Let’s stop the constant comparisons and negativity. Tinubu is working—and that’s more than we can say about the last administration.”
