NUJ Celebrates Ex-Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi 62nd Birthday, Hails Him as Inclusive Leader

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Enugu chapter has congratulated former Governor of Enugu State, Chief Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, on the occasion of his 62nd birthday, describing him as an inclusive and people-oriented leader.

In a statement issued on Friday and signed by the Chairman, Comrade Obinna Ogbuka, the union commended Ugwuanyi’s leadership style during his time in office, noting that he carried everyone along in governance and maintained a cordial relationship with the media.

The NUJ said the former governor demonstrated uncommon humility and accessibility, which endeared him to journalists and the general public, adding that his administration promoted peace, unity, and grassroots development across the state.

“His tenure was marked by inclusiveness, transparency, and respect for the role of the media in a democratic society,” the statement read.

The union further lauded Ugwuanyi for creating an enabling environment for journalists to operate freely without intimidation, stressing that such support strengthened professionalism and ethical journalism in the state.

The NUJ also acknowledged his contributions to infrastructural development and human capital growth, describing his legacy as one that continues to inspire leaders and citizens alike.

The union recently during it’s 2025 press week inducted him as the pioneer “Hall of Fame” due to his good governance and contribution to the growth of media practitioners in the state.

The Union commended him for his recent appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as an Ambassador of Nigeria to Greece, stating that it’s an honour well deserved

While wishing him good health and many more years of impactful service, the union prayed for greater accomplishments in his future endeavours.
