A member of Nigeria’s National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) who was abducted by suspected bandits and seen in a disturbing viral video being beaten while pleading for mercy has reportedly died in captivity, according to emerging reports.
The corps member, whose abduction sparked widespread outrage online, was taken by armed criminals in what is believed to be part of the growing wave of kidnappings across parts of the country. A video circulated widely on social media showing the victim being assaulted by his captors while appealing to authorities and the public for help.
Sources claim that despite the payment of a reported N10 million ransom, the young man was not released. Instead, reports now indicate that he died while still in the custody of his abductors.
