Obasanjo Blasts Tinubu’s Government, Calls Current Leadership ‘A Failure’

Former Nigerian President has delivered a strong criticism of the administration of , describing the current state of governance in the country as a “failure.”

In a widely circulated video, Obasanjo expressed deep concern over what he termed ineffective and incompetent leadership, warning that poor governance is negatively impacting all Nigerians regardless of status or profession.

According to him, the consequences of weak leadership extend beyond politics into everyday life, affecting businesses, livelihoods, and economic stability.

“When you have an ineffective and incompetent government, we are all victims,” Obasanjo said. “Those of your business would be better today if they had a competent and effective and performing government.”

The former president acknowledged that every administration inherits challenges but faulted the Tinubu-led government for what he described as a reliance on excuses instead of delivering tangible results.

“You came in because you know that there are challenges… And giving us excuses. That is why you haven’t achieved results,” he added.

Drawing from his military background, Obasanjo also cautioned Nigerians against accepting or normalizing poor leadership, emphasizing the need for accountability and performance in governance.

“First lesson I learned in my military training is never enforce failure… What we have now is failure. Never you reinforce it.”
