Popular businessman and philanthropist, Dr. Obinna Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, has addressed public reactions trailing his appointment as the South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, describing the role as a platform for constructive engagement and inclusive national development.

In a statement shared on Wednesday, Iyiegbu disclosed that he recently hosted Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at his residence, where both men engaged in wide-ranging discussions on national issues.

Reacting to mixed reactions surrounding his new political role, the socialite-turned-entrepreneur said he believes meaningful change can only be achieved through participation rather than standing on the sidelines.

“I am fully aware of the varied reactions this appointment has sparked. My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he said.

Iyiegbu stressed that his acceptance of the role has not altered his personal values, noting that integrity, service, and community development remain central to his public life.

“Service continues to guide me, and this new role does nothing to alter my commitment to integrity, community growth, and responsible leadership,” he stated.

Declaring his full alignment with the movement, Iyiegbu added that influence is limited when one operates from the outside, affirming his decision to work from within to contribute to national progress.

He also described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a “City Boy and a man of commerce,” emphasizing the need for collective effort in achieving Nigeria’s aspirations.

“All of us need all of us in order to achieve our national aspirations, and I am committed to carrying every Nigerian along in all that I do,” he said.

Calling for tolerance and healthy dialogue, Iyiegbu urged Nigerians to respect differing opinions while remaining focused on creating tangible value for society.

“The moment is now—we move,” he concluded, thanking supporters for their goodwill and continued encouragement toward building a more inclusive future.
