The Governor announced this during a special broadcast to bring ndi Anambra up to speed on the covid-19 pandemic.
Following the result of the 36 contacts of Anambra’s covid-19 index case which returned negative from NCDC test centre, Irua, Edo state and the fact that the index case has been discharged and reunited with his family, “we were encouraged to make some adjustments to our strategy against the pandemic”, Gov Obiano said.
So far, a total of 68 samples have been taken from Anambra state, but only one – the index case, returned positive.

The Governor however cautioned that all hygiene protocols established by government, NCDC and World Health Organisation (WHO) must be observed strictly. He emphasized the need for social distancing and maintained that the compulsory wearing of face masks in the state will be enforced.
He added that major markets will remain shut while he deliberates with market leaders on the way forward. Meanwhile intra state movement resumes, but all state boundaries remain closed.
The Gov expressed gratitude to medical experts and all who worked tirelessly to ensure the effective management and prevention of further spread of covid-19 in the state. He also thanked those who supported the state with financial and material donations.
To ndi Anambra, the Governor extended profound gratitude for complying with government’s directives. He urged them to observe the hygiene protocols and keep hope alive.
