Ogbako Ndi Nkanu, a socio-political organization in Enugu State has lauded the Leadership and Members of Enugu State House of Assembly and the Government of Enugu State for the passage of the Anti-Open Grazing Bill.
The group’s Central Coordinator, Hon. Obioma Nnamani who spoke to our newsmen when he was contacted by our media reporter on Friday said he was elated by the passage of the bill and that the State Assembly lawmakers deserve to be commended. In his words “Enugu State Lawmakers must be commended for the passage of the anti-open grazing bill which will ensure a peaceful coexistence between the Farmers and the herders in the State, considering that the activities of some herdsmen against their hosts have become a menace in our society hence the need to curb their excesses through legislation.
He also commended the Governor of Enugu State Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for ensuring that there’s peace in the State.
“Our Governor is a lover of Peace and he has continued to make sure that Enugu State under his watch remains peaceful and united. It’s obvious that the Anti-open grazing bill was passed to further entrench peace and harmony between the herders and their hosts” he stated.
Enugu State House of Assembly has on Thursday passed a bill to ban anti-open grazing in the State. Open grazing which is considered not only outdated and a personal business, has also been fingered as a major reason for conflicts between the herders and the farmers.
