Ohanaeze Youth Council Demands Arrest of Arewa Youth President Over Viral Threat

OYC

The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) National Leadership, under the leadership of Comrade Igboayaka O Igboayaka, has strongly condemned the inflammatory statement attributed to the Arewa Youth President and has urged relevant security agencies to effect his immediate arrest and investigation to prevent escalation of tension and safeguard the well-being of Igbos across Nigeria.

In the viral video clip titled “Very Soon, We Will Revenge the Killings by Igbo/Biafra in Rivers State” — AREWA YOUTH PRESIDENT VOWS”, this overt threat should not be disregarded by security agencies.

Historically, the lives and properties of Ndigbo have been under threat since the 1967-1970 genocide against the Igbo perpetrated by the Federal Government and its allies, including the British Government.

Unfortunately, a recent event in Rivers State, which has no connection to Ndigbo, has been misconstrued by Islamist extremists to have ethnic implications, as part of a premeditated plan to attack Ndigbo.

We request that the international community and the United States of America under President Donald Trump closely observe the violent threat issued in a viral video by the alleged Arewa Youth President.
We believe that such a media outburst and outing appears to be a coordinated plan engineered by secret Jihadist Muslim extremists with an agenda to engage in massive killings against Igbo-Christians, especially in Northern Nigeria.

It is essential to note that a plan of this nature will face significant resistance from peaceful Igbo people living in various parts of Nigeria.

During the reign of terror by Unknown Gunmen in the Southeast, Mr. Asari Dokubo made incriminating statements and threatened the Igbos, but the federal Security Agents, including the Police and State Security Service, failed to investigate or arrest him.

No single entity holds a monopoly on violence; thus, any individual or tribe considering the execution of threats against the lives and properties of Ndigbo must think again, as such actions will necessarily be met with unforeseen and far-reaching consequences. Even as a law abiding citizen of this contraption called Nigeria, we are not afraid of the “Dance of Surugede”

Nigeria’s multifaceted challenges have consistently posed significant risks to the Igbo-Christians, Self-determination groups like (IPOB) and other vulnerable groups, rendering the country’s problems seemingly insurmountable. The recurring tribal threats against the Ndigbo serve as substantial evidence that achieving unity in Nigeria is an unattainable goal, thus lending credence to the demands for Referendum or a plebiscite by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
We accordingly urge the Nigeria Police and State Security Service SSS to promptly apprehend the individual responsible for issuing viral video threats against Ndigbo within 48 hours.

Unless the Arewa Youth President is arrested and prosecuted within 48 hours, Ndigbo may infer that he is acting in concert with the federal government to target Igbo-Christians in Nigeria.

Signed
Comrade Igboayaka O Igboayaka
National President
