Tragedy struck as the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Governorship Candidate in the 2024 Ondo State Gubernatorial Elections, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA), was confirmed dead.
A statement from the family announced that Akingboye, who was also the CEO of Benshore Maritime, CEO of Clog Oil Systems, President of WeAfrica Group, and the Olowomeye I of Ikaleland, passed away earlier today at his residence in Victoria Garden City (VGC), Lagos.
Widely known as OBA, Akingboye was described as a man of unwavering integrity, an accomplished businessman, philanthropist, visionary leader, and community builder who lived a fulfilled and purposeful life.
He is survived by his wives, children, grandchildren, and siblings. The family noted that burial arrangements and further details will be communicated in due course.
Otunba Akingboye was a household name in Ondo politics and business, admired for his grassroots connections and his passion for community development. His passing has thrown the Ikale community and the wider Ondo State political landscape into mourning.
