A devastating fire outbreak has rocked the Ekwusigo/Ozubulu area of Anambra State after a fuel tanker reportedly fell and exploded near a suya stand, triggering a massive inferno that spread rapidly through the vicinity.
The flames engulfed several shops, including a pharmacy, provision stores, and multiple tricycles, with early estimates placing the destruction at over ₦40 million in property and goods.
Tragically, a tricycle operator was unable to escape the blaze and lost his life in the incident.
Witnesses said the fire erupted within minutes of the tanker’s fall, forcing residents and business owners to flee as thick smoke billowed into the evening sky. Emergency responders, assisted by local volunteers, battled tirelessly to contain the inferno and prevent further damage.
