Prominent Nigerian broadcaster and social commentator, Oseni Rufai, has raised serious concerns over the alleged withdrawal of all Nigerian ambassadors from their posts worldwide.
In a post on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Rufai, disclosed that he recently sought to connect with the Nigerian ambassador in the UAE only to be told that there was none.
According to him, he was informed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had recalled all Nigerian ambassadors, including the country’s representatives to the United Nations. He further lamented that many embassies are currently being run by junior attachés, some of whom are reportedly being owed salaries.
“I’m based in the UAE at present and just yesterday asked around to find out who the Nigerian ambassador to the UAE is to get an introduction. I was informed that our president withdrew all our ambassadors worldwide including the ambassadors to the UN and that embassies that are still operating are being run by junior attaché’s who themselves are owed salaries,” Rufai wrote.
