Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party (Nigeria), Peter Obi, has condemned the recent attack in the Angwa Rukuba area of Jos, describing the incident as another painful reminder of the worsening insecurity in the country.
Obi said he received the disturbing news and images of the attack shortly after arriving from a visit to Kano on Monday evening.
Reacting to the development, the former Anambra State governor lamented the recurring loss of innocent lives in Plateau State, saying the continued killings show that many Nigerians remain vulnerable without adequate protection.
According to him, the frequent attacks and loss of lives are gradually becoming normalized in the country, a situation he described as unacceptable.
“It is unacceptable that these attacks happen with such frequency, and even more unacceptable that there seems to be no decisive, sustained strategy to end them. No nation or leader normalises tragedy,” Obi stated.
He stressed that the safety of Nigerian lives must become a non-negotiable priority, noting that the country cannot continue to mourn deaths that could have been prevented.
Obi also extended his condolences to the families of the victims, praying for the souls of those who lost their lives and expressing hope for a future where such tragedies would no longer be a recurring reality in Nigeria.
“We cannot continue like this. Enough is enough,” he added.
