Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, has continued his nationwide consultations, holding high-level engagements with elder statesmen and key stakeholders on the future of Nigeria.

In Zaria, Kaduna State, Obi met with Professor Ango Abdullahi, a renowned academic and respected voice in national discourse. According to Obi, the meeting focused on the state of the nation, the urgent need for unity, and practical pathways toward rebuilding Nigeria. He noted that their discussion was frank, with emphasis on the responsibility of leadership to rise above divisions and work deliberately for the common good of all Nigerians.

While in Zaria, Obi also interacted with a group of graduating pilots at the airport. He said he encouraged them to remain focused, disciplined and committed to excellence, stressing that Nigeria needs their skills, integrity and professionalism to move forward.

From Zaria, Obi proceeded to Niger State, where he met with former Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd). He recalled that during an earlier visit, Babangida had discussed the book Growing Apart, which examines how Nigeria and Indonesia, once on similar development paths, diverged, with Indonesia emerging as a success story. Obi disclosed that he obtained an autographed copy of the book from the author during a recent trip to the United States and presented it to the former military leader.

He said their discussion centred on national unity, security and strategies for improving the lives of Nigerians.

Obi stated that the engagements reaffirmed his belief that meaningful progress in Nigeria requires honest dialogue, inclusive leadership and collective responsibility.

“A New Nigeria is POssible,” he added.
