Amidst the Dental crisis of UNICAL dentistry students crisis, Peter Obi, offers a beacon of hope to over 300 affected students with the sum of N20 million.

The crisis, stemming from the university admitting students beyond the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria’s (MDCN) approved quota of 10 students annually, had left many students at risk of not graduating or being inducted as dental surgeons.

In a powerful show of support, Obi donated 20 million Naira to the Faculty of Dental Studies, a gesture aimed at alleviating the financial and infrastructural challenges exacerbating the situation.

During his visit to Calabar, Obi was warmly received by students, faculty. The funds are expected to support critical upgrades to the dental faculty’s infrastructure, including the acquisition of additional dental chairs and improved laboratory facilities, aligning with the university’s efforts to meet MDCN standards.
