Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has publicly declared his support for Mrs. Justina Azuka, widow of the late Hon. Justice Azuka, in her bid to represent Onitsha North Constituency 1 in the Anambra State House of Assembly.
Mrs. Azuka, a young mother of three children aged 7, 5, and 3, lost her husband in a tragic kidnapping incident. Stepping forward in the face of immense personal loss, she is seeking to complete the remaining 13 months of her late husband’s tenure.
Obi, in a statement, praised Mrs. Azuka’s courage and commitment, describing her as a qualified and competent leader with an HND in Public Administration. He emphasized that leadership must combine competence with compassion, adding that supporting her candidacy would be both an investment in effective representation and an act of solidarity.
“I call on all well-meaning citizens to rally behind her. In doing so, we show that the new Nigeria we seek will be compassionate, caring, and just,” Obi stated.
The by-election for the Onitsha North Constituency 1 seat is scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025.
