Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has cautioned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against relying on the possible return of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi as a survival strategy for the 2027 elections.
Speaking during a media chat, the former Rivers State governor said the PDP had failed to learn from the mistakes that led to its defeat in the 2023 polls, particularly its decision to field both the presidential candidate and the national chairman from the North.
“From day one, I warned them. You cannot have the presidential candidate and the national chairman from the same region. But they ignored it. I told them it would backfire, and it did,” Wike said.
