The bodies of 27 victims, including women and children, killed in last Tuesday’s deadly attack on a community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, are being transported from the hospital morgue back to the community for mass burial.
The victims, who sustained fatal injuries during the night assault by unidentified gunmen, had been taken to a nearby hospital for documentation and post-mortem procedures. They are now being returned home for final rites.
The atmosphere in Riyom remains tense, as residents gather in grief to receive the remains of their loved ones. Community members, traditional leaders, and humanitarian workers have converged to coordinate the burial and provide comfort to grieving families.
