Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Killing Rival Over Domestic Dispute in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old man, Alhaji Hassan Umaru, for allegedly killing a suspected rival during a domestic dispute in Bundila Village, Gulani Local Government Area of the state.

Sources said the incident occurred at about 12:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Bundila Market, where Umaru allegedly attacked Sukari Abdul, 45, with a cutlass.

According to the sources, Umaru accused the victim of having an affair with his wife. Abdul, a Fulani herder, reportedly sustained severe injuries during the attack and was rushed to the Bularaba Primary Health Care Centre for treatment.

However, a medical doctor at the facility confirmed him dead on arrival.

“The corpse has been released to the relatives for burial in accordance with Islamic rites. The suspect has been apprehended, and the cutlass used in the attack has been recovered,” the sources said.

Police authorities said investigations were ongoing, and the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
