Authorities in Los Angeles are investigating the deaths of two individuals found at a residence believed to be linked to acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner.
According to unconfirmed accounts cited by PEOPLE, a man and a woman believed to be Rob Reiner, 78, and Michele Singer Reiner, 68, were found dead at the home on Sunday, December 14. Law enforcement officials have not officially identified the victims or confirmed the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
The Los Angeles Fire Department said it responded to a medical emergency call at the residence at approximately 3:30 p.m., where two people—a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman—were pronounced dead at the scene. No cause of death has been released.
Sources familiar with the matter told PEOPLE that the couple’s son, Nick Reiner, 32, is alive and has been questioned by investigators. Police have not announced any arrests, and authorities have not confirmed any allegations regarding his involvement.
The Los Angeles Police Department has yet to issue a formal statement detailing the identities of the deceased or the nature of the investigation, which remains ongoing.
Rob Reiner is a renowned director, producer, and actor whose body of work includes This Is Spinal Tap, Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, Misery, and A Few Good Men. He first gained widespread recognition as an actor on the television sitcom All in the Family, portraying Mike Stivic. He is the son of the late comedy legend Carl Reiner.
Reiner married Michele Singer in 1989 after meeting during the production of When Harry Met Sally…. The couple had three children together. Reiner was previously married to filmmaker and actress Penny Marshall, who died in 2018.
