Hon Chris Emeka Azubogu has hailed the position of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje regarding the country’s porous borders. The Kano State governor, who made the bold call on Saturday, June 6, 2020 while commissioning a project of 25 housing units of RUGA settlement at Dansoshiya forest in Kiru Local Government Area of the state, minced no words in saying that the Federal Government should ban entry of herdsmen from other African countries into Nigeria as reported by www.channelstv.com, yesterday ( June 6th, 2020).
According to the governor, the call was necessary in order to “successfully and effectively prevent the coming of herdsmen from other African countries, because they come to this country with guns and other weapons, which flame the clash between herders and farmers.”
Hon Azubogu had two days earlier on Thursday June 4, while contributing to a Motion on National Security, called for data-driven security Infrastructure that will provide proper identification of Nigerians and foreigners who enter through our numerous porous borders to commit crimes and go undetected and unarrested.
”We cannot do so much for our country’s security issues without proper database,” Hon Azubogu had said.
Reacting to Gov Ganduje’s call,
the member representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency said the governor just added a voice to his position on securing our borders.
”Our seriousness with the security of our borders will go a long way in defining our National Security status,” the lawmaker concluded.
