A viral video circulating on social media has sparked concerns after heavy rainwater was seen leaking through the ceiling of a classroom at the New Haven Smart Green School in Enugu State, leaving desks and floors flooded.
In the footage, water is seen pouring through sections of the classroom ceiling during a rainfall, while pupils’ desks and parts of the classroom floor appear soaked. The incident has raised questions among residents and social media users about the structural integrity of the newly constructed facility.
The New Haven Smart Green School is part of the flagship education initiative of Peter Mbah, which aims to build more than 260 modern Smart Green Schools across the state. The project, launched in 2024, is designed to provide technology-driven learning environments, improved infrastructure, and expanded access to quality education for children in Enugu.
The Smart Green Schools initiative has been widely promoted by the state government as a transformative step for the education sector, featuring digital classrooms, modern facilities, and environmentally sustainable designs.
However, the viral video has triggered debate online, with many calling for an immediate investigation into the construction quality of the affected building. Some residents expressed concern that a newly built school facility should not experience such leakages during rainfall.
