Nigerian political commentator and former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has reacted strongly after Valentine Obienyem, the official spokesman for Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, shared a sticker mocking his appearance.
The sticker, which features Reno Omokri wearing a shirt with the words “I am anywhere belle face”, was reportedly posted on Omokri’s social media profile by Obienyem. The phrase, a popular Nigerian pidgin expression, is often used to describe someone who follows opportunities without principle.
Taking to his page, Omokri expressed outrage, questioning the maturity and professionalism of Obi’s media team.
“Look at what Peter Obi’s official spokesman is posting on my profile. His official spokesman!” Omokri wrote. “Between Obi and I, who has a belly like that?” he added, appearing to challenge the intent behind the body-shaming post.
