Residents of Omugo Community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State have fled their homes following a series of relentless bandit attacks that have left the once vibrant settlement nearly deserted.
According to local sources, the attacks—marked by shootings, kidnappings, and destruction of property—have intensified in recent weeks, forcing families to abandon their homes in search of safety in neighboring towns and villages.
Eyewitnesses described the situation as dire, with many residents fleeing in the middle of the night after reports of approaching armed men. Farms and businesses have been left unattended, while schools and local markets have shut down indefinitely.
“We can no longer sleep with our eyes closed. Every night, we live in fear,” a displaced resident said, recounting the growing insecurity that has crippled daily life in the community.
