The former governor of Imo state, Sen. Rochas Okorocha has denied any financial impropriety while serving as the Imo state governor.
Okorocha, who is the current senator representing Imo West at the Upper Legislative chamber in a recent interview with BBC Igbo monitored by ABN TV, revealed that if he had wanted to steal while in office as Imo governor, he would have built hotels and mansions in Dubai, South Africa, US, Abuja and other cities where he said others build and not in Owerri.
He frowned at the recent clampdown on his daughter’s and wife’s businesses by the Imo assets recovery task-force, insisting that their businesses are not proceeds of crime.
“They went to where my daughter is selling bread, pepper soup and doing her restaurant business and made away with her fridge, air conditioner and everything in the name of task-force.
They went to where my wife does her furniture business, opened the container and invited people to remove her wares” he said.
