Christiano Ronaldo scored a brace as Portugal beat Armenia 5-0 in their quest to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

His brace takes him to 942 career goals for both club and country.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s Sunday X post, the Portuguese scored “140 international goals, 942 career goals… and counting for Cristiano Ronaldo.”

A minute’s silence was held before the World Cup qualifier in honour of Jota, who won 49 caps for Portugal, and banners were displayed around the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan.

Ronaldo, now 40, continues to defy age and records.

His brace has increased global attention as he edges closer to the mythical 1,000-goal mark—a feat never officially recorded in modern football.

João Félix opened the scoring in the 10th minute before Ronaldo doubled their lead when he converted Pedro Neto’s cross. João Cancelo celebrated his goal to make it 3-0 by mimicking Jota’s video game celebration.

The 40-year-old Ronaldo extended Portugal’s lead to four shortly after half-time with a stunning strike of a bouncing ball from a distance, while his Al-Nassr teammate Félix added a second of his own to complete the scoring.
