Stade Rennais are still chasing Mohammed Salisu despite turning them down in an initial €12m agreement deal with Real Valladolid.
The French Lig 1 side has the 21-year-old talented centre-back as their chief transfer target in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Rennes are doing all that they can to sign the Ghanaian defender but a desire to move to the Premier League by Salisu seems to be troubling the Rennes-based club over his pursuit as they want to beef up their backline options with his acquisition.
Club’s president Nicolas Holveck revealed in an interview that his outfit would not want to push for a man who has his heart somewhere, but Sporting Director Florian Maurice has none of this claim as he still remains confident of securing the services of the promising centre-half.
Florian Maurice told RMC per Le10sport : ” Salisu is still a priority. We need to strengthen ourselves in this position. We have started proceedings for Salisu. We are always in contact with the club and the player’s entourage. We remain active on this issue.”
Salisu has been stupendous in the ongoing LaLiga top-flight with Valladolid having made 30 appearances with a goal and an assist to his credit in all competitions.
The White and Violet dependable stopper is currently valued at €12m.
