Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu says the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has significantly improved funding for states and local governments, leaving no governor or council chairperson with any justification to complain about inadequate resources.
Sanwo-Olu stated this on Tuesday in Kaduna while delivering a public lecture organised by the Arewa Think Tank (ATT) at the Arewa House. The lecture, themed “65th Year of Nigeria’s Independence: The Journey So Far with the Renewed Hope Agenda in View,” examined Nigeria’s development trajectory and the impact of recent policy reforms.
The governor said federal allocations to states and LGs have risen substantially, enhancing the capacity of subnational governments to execute their developmental responsibilities.
“Ask any state governor or local government chairperson, and they will tell you how much revenue has surged under the watch of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. There is now more money to do more for the people of Nigeria,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu also commended Nigerians for their resilience over the decades, noting that despite socio-economic and political challenges, citizens have continued to uphold unity, faith, and a collective commitment to national progress.
