The Senate has confirmed the nomination of Dr. Nnoli Nkechi Gloria from Anambra State as a Federal Commissioner of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), following President Bola Tinubu’s request for legislative approval.
Nnoli’s confirmation came on Thursday during plenary after the upper chamber approved the report of the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs, which screened the nominees earlier in the week.
With her confirmation, Dr. Nnoli Nkechi Gloria will represent Anambra State on the Commission, which is responsible for promoting equity, fairness, and balanced representation in federal appointments and resource distribution across the country.
She was confirmed alongside Mrs. Ayo Hulayat Omidiran from Osun State, who was approved as the new Chairman of the Commission, as well as Hon. Peter Ogbonna Eze from Enugu State and 36 other nominees representing all states of the federation and the FCT.
The Commission, often described as a critical federal institution for national integration, is expected to play a central role in ensuring fairness in recruitment and public sector opportunities under the current administration.
Dr. Nnoli Nkechi Gloria’s appointment is seen as a significant step for Anambra, with expectations that she will bring integrity, inclusiveness, and balanced representation to the Commission’s operations.
