Senator Akpoti Accused of Fleeing Hours After Court Summons

A new controversy is brewing in Nigeria’s political scene as U.S.-based media scientist, Professor Mgbeke, has publicly accused Senator Natasha Akpoti of fleeing the country to evade legal proceedings.

In a strongly worded social media post, Prof. Mgbeke alleged that the Senator abruptly left Nigeria less than 24 hours after being served a court summons on May 16, 2025. The summons is reportedly related to an ongoing legal matter involving serious allegations made by the Senator.

“Why are you running if you truly have evidence to support your claims? The court is waiting, LIE-TASHA,” Prof. Mgbeke wrote in a viral post. She added, “Disappearing across borders won’t shield you from accountability. You must stand and defend every allegation you’ve made with facts, not theatrics.”

According to Prof. Mgbeke, multiple witnesses have confirmed that Senator Akpoti was notified of the court appearance, yet she allegedly chose to ignore the summons and subsequently fled the country via connecting flights.

“This case isn’t under foreign jurisdiction. Your dispute lies at home, and the witnesses are here, ready to speak their truth,” the post continued.
